Five-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter is known for her clever lyrics and unique blend of country, folk and pop music. The New York Times calls her “quietly spellbinding.”

Her current tour features intimate, acoustic performances and marks a return to singing both timeless hits and deep cuts from her expansive and beloved 13-album catalog.

Carpenter will join the Charlotte Symphony led by Conductor Vince Mendoza at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center  – Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte.

Carpenter’s latest release, “Songs from the Movie,” is an inspired orchestral reinvention of her classic compositions. The Symphony will shine on these compelling new arrangements as Carpenter performs songs from throughout her 25-year career, which includes two CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Awards and a recent induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

“They say that the worst, the most traumatic things that people can go through in their lives are a divorce, the loss of a parent and catastrophic illness,” Carpenter has been quoted as saying. “All of those things have happened to me in the past few years.”
