The Lineup

Counterclockwise String Band: 12 p.m.-12:45 p.m.

The Midatlantic: 1:15 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Florencia & The Feeling: 3 p.m.-3:45 p.m.

Duck: 4:15 p.m.-5 p.m.

The Orange Constant: 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.

Bowstring will be serving pizza and drinks.

On Huffington Post: FloydFest’s On-the-Rise Competition opens Saturday, April 2

Mix up some Swampcandy, Annabelle’s Curse, Look Homeward and The Midatlantic in a bowl, and what you get are some of FloydFest fans’ favorite flavors.

What do you call it? Who knows, but it sure sounds good.

All were chosen as winners and runners up in the festival’s On-the-Rise (OTR) Competition in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Now, FloydFest fans have a chance to choose who takes part in the festival’s OTR 2016
competition during an eight-week roster of shows at The Phoenix, a little “cubby-of-
cool” in Roanoke, Virginia’s Old Southwest neighborhood. The competition starts April
2 and runs through the end of May, says Kris Hodges, co-founder of the festival set for
July 27-31 off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milemarker 170.5. Several of the bands are
alumni of other area festivals, including Rooster Walk Arts and Music Festival and Front
Porch Fest, among others.

FloydFest 16 to welcome Warren Haynes, Gregg Allman Band for first time, tickets increase Jan. 1

This just in from the good folks at FloydFest as it heads toward its 15th run, July 27-31, 2016. FloydFest 16~Dreamweavin’ will host for the first time the Gregg Allman Band and Warren Haynes and his Ashes and Dust tour, among many others. And just in case you haven’t heard, USA Today named FloydFest among its “Top 10 Southern Events” in October: “FloydFest is a world music and art festival that has gained esteem for only selling a limited quantity of tickets. The goal: to provide the best music festival possible. For four days every July near Floyd, Virginia, you can hear music from reggae to Yiddish to Appalachian, and also see arts and crafts, take yoga, hear poetry and storytelling and more. Every year has a unique theme that shapes the offerings.”
