Scythian to wrap up St. Patrick’s Day 2017 ‘Border Scramble’ tour on storied Kennedy Center Millennium Stage
MerleFest fan-favorite Scythian is launching its “Board Scramble Tour” this week just in time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2017. When you’re a Celtic rock band, St. Patrick’s Day is your Super Bowl and this year is no exception for the Washington, D.C.-based group.

MerleFest announces initial lineup for 30th celebration in April 2017
The following announcement is from the good folks at MerleFest, which is slated for April 27-30, 2017. Early bird tickets are on sale now here. I am particularly excited to see Mountain Heart, Front Country, Chatham County Line, Scythian and Swift Creek in the lineup. Here’s hoping subsequent lineup announcements include Mipso, Flatt Lonesome, Will Overman Band, Dead Horses, Mandolin Orange, Zoe and Cloyd, Dori Freeman, The Church Sisters, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Infamous Stringdusters, Sarah Siskind, Sierra Hull, Yarn, American Aquarium, Mike Farris, Rhonda Vincent, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Annabelle’s Curse, Town Mountain, Little Hill Trio, The Genuine, The Honeycutters, The Steel Wheels, Elephant Revival, Balsam Range, Mason Via, The Judy Chops, Swampcandy, Chamomile and Whiskey and Billy Strings, among others.
From the release: “2017 will be a celebration of 30 years of MerleFest! The annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The star-packed lineup for MerleFest 2017 will be announced over the next few months; today MerleFest made its first announcement for the 2017 lineup, including Zac Brown Band with a very special acoustic set, Del McCoury Band, Jim Lauderdale, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan, Mountain Heart and many more.”

Scythian, Junior Sisk to headline fifth annual Carolina Bible Camp Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10
Carolina Bible Camp & Retreat Center will host its Fifth Annual CBC Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10, featuring MerleFest fan favorites Scythian and Junior Sisk and Rambler’s Choice.
Danylo Fedoryka says, “This will be our first Bible Camp show. We met the organizers at MerleFest and to us it seems that what they’re trying to do create is a continuation of that MerleFest spirit — great bluegrass in a real family friendly environment. And we just can’t enough of North Carolina, so we are excited to be back.”
The day-long festival located at 1988 Jericho Church Road, Mocksville, North Carolina, promises to feature great music, food, and fellowship – not to mention a few surprises, according to Festival Director Lisa Brewer.
Scythian to perform at The Forum on Friday, June 17, in Arlington, Virginia
Fans may be surprised to learn that the founding members of Scythian, a Washington, D.C.-based Celtic rock band, didn’t like Irish music originally.
But when brothers Alexander and Danylo Fedoryka were in college at the Franciscan University of Stuebenville, Ohio, Alex became obsessed with an Irish fiddler. Alex, who was a classically trained musician, said, “What is that? Whatever that is, I’ve got to do it.”

If you’re Scythian, a Celtic rock band known for bringing legions of MerleFest fans to their feet since 2007, St. Patrick’s Day is your Super Bowl.
And this one’s big.
Huge.
It’s not a well-paid gig at a club in Manhattan or Washington, D.C., from where they mostly hail.
It’s much bigger than that.
The band will no doubt play to an audience of adoring fans — possibly its biggest, but these fans won’t be paying a dime.
This one is on Scythian, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
