The Kruger Brothers trio are releasing a remarkable new project, “The Roan Mountain Suite,” on April 28 as part of MerleFest’s 30th anniversary celebration that runs through April 30. This weekend also marks the trio’s 20th anniversary at the Americana music festival held on the grounds of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

MerleFest, one of the top Americana roots festivals, is known for its unique mix of traditional, roots-oriented music from the Appalachian region, including bluegrass and old-time music and four days of making memories, Americana, blues, country, Celtic, Cajun, cowboy, zydeco, rock and many other styles known as “traditional plus.” The festival, presented by Window World, is celebrating its 30th anniversary April 27-30, 2017, at in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. North Carolina native Sarah Siskind and Sunliner will release their long awaited and latest collaboration,” LOVE,” on April 14, 2017.
In a handwritten note delivered with the album, Siskind wrote, “Well after all this time, here it is!”

SECCA opens ‘SoundSeen: Remix Exhibit’ with free performance by jazz artist Anthony Braxton

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 6, 2017) — Legendary jazz artist and MacArthur Fellow Anthony Braxton highlights the opening night of SECCA’s SoundSeen:Remix with a live performance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, in the McChesney Scott Dunn Auditorium.
This is one of only two scheduled performances in the U.S. this year by Braxton, who has released more than 100 albums in his 40-plus year career. Performance and exhibit admission are free.
Dead Horses set to arrive in North Carolina for three shows Jan. 27-29
After I premiered the Dead Horses single “Ain’t Got Time” off their album, “Cartoon Moon,” last summer on my Huffington Post blog, I couldn’t stop listening to the entire album. In fact, it’s still in my CD player. Yeah, yeah, I’m a dinosaur but I recognize talent when I hear it.

MerleFest 2017 will be the 30th annual homecoming where musicians and music fans return to Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
