Moe Bandy honors 45th anniversary of George Jones’ classic with new single ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Country music legend Moe Bandy honors George Jones for the 45th anniversary of “He Stopped Loving Her Today” by releasing his version as the latest single from his upcoming album, “Songs I Missed.”

Written by Bobby Braddock and Curley Putman, the song became a No. 1 hit for Jones in 1980 and was ranked among Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” The single premiered on Feb. 28 on the Dillon Weldon & Drifting Cowboy Podcast and is now available on InstagramThreadsTikTokFacebookYouTube, and Spotify.

Produced by Jimmy Capps, “Songs I Missed” is a collection of Bandy’s renditions of timeless country classics and will be released on May 2, 2025, via StarVista Music.

“Every country singer, if they’re being completely honest, would probably admit they wish they had recorded ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today,’” said Bandy in a press release. “That being said, no one could have delivered it the way George Jones did. The heart and emotion he poured into every note made it truly his own. We can all wish, but that song found its rightful owner. I loved George and wanted to honor him with this tribute.”

One of America’s all-time leading classic country music artists, Bandy’s long string of hits includes “Bandy The Rodeo Clown,” “Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life,” “Till I’m Too Old To Die Young,” “Americana,” “It’s A Cheatin’ Situation,” “Just Good Ol’ Boys,” “Barstool Mountain,” “I Cheated Me Right Out of You,” “I Just Started Hatin’ Cheatin’ Songs Today,” “Rodeo Romeo,” “You Haven’t Heard the Last of Me,” “Holding The Bag” and dozens of other chart-toppers.

Whether writing, recording new songs, or traveling the world performing, Moe has one of the busiest schedules in show business. He has amassed 10 #1 hits, 40 Top Ten hits, and 5 Gold Albums. He has also won the ACM Song of the Year award, the ACM Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year award, the American Video of the Year award, and the ACM and CMA Duet of the Year awards.

Secondly, we keep Daryle’s name and legacy alive for the next generation of fans to know his traditional sound. Wild Ponies get back to their roots with ‘Galax’

What happens when you throw a group of Nashville and Galax, Virginia, musicians who have never played together in a barn behind a farmhouse nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains? Musical magic.

That’s exactly what happened a year ago this month when the Wild Ponies – otherwise known as Doug and Telisha Williams – decided to get back to their musical and geographic roots.

“I had spent a lot time playing on my grandfather’s farm and it’s just a beautiful place to spend some time,” Doug said in a recent phone interview. “We wanted to play with people who played with my grandfather and then get some people from Nashville to play as well. It just felt like something we needed to do.” Continue reading

First Listen: Little Feather mixes it up with release of new single ‘Hillbilly Love Song’

If you took a salt shaker and threw in some Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless and Little Big Town and shook it up, what just might come out is the sound of Curb Records’ newest act, Little Feather.

I have the pleasure of releasing the award-winning group’s debut single today, right here, right now.

“Hillbilly Love Song (Hey Y’all)” at first listen is an upbeat, fun tune that showcases lead singer Liz Sharpe‘s vintage-modern vocal skills along with the band’s organically optimistic acoustic playing.

The almost jauntiness of the genre-defying tune, however, belies the sadness and longing reflected in the lyrics and the rich harmonies. “I was born a miner’s daughter, how did i lose the girl I used to be?…Tonight i want to hear a hillbilly love song. I’ve been an uptown girl for way too long … I want to dance with nothing but my boots on.

Makes you want to listen, doesn’t it? And you’re in luck because you can hear it first here.

Sarah Siskind and Sunliner shine with ‘LOVE’

North Carolina native Sarah Siskind and Sunliner will release their long awaited and latest collaboration,” LOVE,” on April 14, 2017.

In a handwritten note delivered with the album, Siskind wrote, “Well after all this time, here it is!”

Trust me when I say it’s worth your time to give a listen to this sampler to get just a taste of what this fresh and funky new album has to offer. It’s a mix of rock, folk, country, jazz fusion and delta blues, that all the while somehow manages to stick to its Americana roots. It ranges from the upbeat “By You” to the heartbreaking “Not Enough.”

“This whiskey is the closest thing I have to a friend … I wake up late at night and cry; I drink the bottle til it’s dry, but it’s not enough to make me forget how you love me.”
