Travis Tritt, Marshall Tucker Band part of 2017 Classic Country Concert Series at Winston-Salem Fairgrounds

As part of the 2017 Classic Country Concert Series, the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and 98.1 WBRF Classic Country will host country music star Travis Tritt and his full band at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017, in the Annex Theatre. Mountain Faith Band’s literacy project an example of grass-roots initiative

Mountain Faith Band, which has graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and Radio City Music Hall, wants to bring its unique blend of Americana/roots music to a school near you.

It’s all in the name of promoting literacy and writing, without government funding or related mandates.

The bluegrass, folk, and gospel family band from Sylva has been playing its unique brand of music since 2000. Named the 2016 International Bluegrass Music Association Emerging Artist of the Year, the group’s members are Summer McMahan, Brayden McMahan, Sam McMahan, Cory Piatt, and Nick Dauphinais.

Yarn, Will Overman Band to perform Cinco de Mayo show at The Blind Tiger

I discovered two of my favorite bands — Yarn and Will Overman Band — at the annual Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival just outside Martinsville, Virginia. Rooster Walk 9 is set for May 25-28, 2017. Yarn, a perennial favorite will be there, but unfortunately, Will Overman Band will not. Rooster Walk needs to work on that for RW10.
