Americana music icon Robert Earl Keen has released “Live Dinner Reunion” 20 years after he released “No. 2 Live Dinner,” his biggest-selling album to date. But this time he has brought along a few friends including friend and recent touring partner Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Cory Morrow, Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed and The Departed, Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly and Bruce Robison along with some 5,000 fans.
If you haven’t had the chance to see REK live, now is your chance and I highly recommend it. I had the opportunity to see him perform live a few years ago at Red Wing Roots Festival and he put on one of the best live shows I have seen.

The annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mark O’Connor and the O’Connor Band will start off the “Blue Ridge and Beyond” series on Nov. 19 at the Historic Earle Theatre in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
If you’re a Rolling Stones fan, listen up: Chuck Leavell, keyboardist for the group, is coming to Winston-Salem on Friday, Nov. 11. You can catch him beginning at 8 p.m. at the city’s newest venue, The Barn at Reynolda Village, 2201 Reynolda Road. Advance tickets are $25, $30 at the door. Click here for more details.
If you haven’t had the chance to hear Mipso, the unique string band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, perform live, you’re in luck. You can catch them beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, at the historic Rives Theatre in uptown Martinsville, Virginia. Season passes are accepted, otherwise tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Tickets available locally at Daily Grind, Woodall’s Music and online here.
If you are looking as forward to MerleFest 2017 as I am, I know you will want to mark your calendar for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. That’s when the initial lineup will be announced and early bird tickets will go on sale at that time as well.

There will also be a first-ever BBQ Cookoff Contest Judging from 2:50-3:20 p.m.
