Rhythm N’ Blooms Festival announces daily artist lineup, single-day ticket sales

From the good folks over at Rhythm ‘N Blooms Fest:

Rhythm N Blooms Music Festival is pleased to announce the daily lineup of artists for its ninth annual music festival. The festival, which takes place in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, on April 6-8, 2018, features a wide variety of national and regional acts ranging from Americana, country, alternative, roots and blues. On Friday, more than a dozen artists including Deer Tick, The Mowgli’s, Caroline Spence, and The Lonely Biscuits will perform across the festival’s seven stages. On Saturday, headliner Dr. Dog will be joined by Hayes Carll, DK the Drummer, Penny & Sparrow, and more. Paul Thorn’s Mission Temple Fireworks Revival featuring The McCrary Sisters will close out the festival on Sunday. Shiloh Hill announces new music, new ‘Autumn Roots’ tour on heels of ‘Wildflower’ album release

In light of Shiloh Hill’s Thursday, March 1, show at Muddy Creek Music and Dance Hall in Bethania, North Carolina, with Brooklyn-based Common Jack, I thought I would re-post this story I wrote about this uber talented Winston-Salem-based group in October. Tickets for tonight’s show are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Shiloh Hill also made my “Favorite Musical Picks for 2017” published here and on The Huffington Post for the group’s most recent album, “Wildflower.” Go check them out. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Shiloh Hill is a self-described eclectic folk-rock band that layers traditional folk instruments over a rock band rhythm section. My husband and I had the pleasure of discovering their unique sound recently at Craft City Sip-In in Greensboro, North Carolina, where the band is based.

The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) is proud to announce Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native Caleb Caudle will headline Crossroads @ SECCA #020 on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. The show that is set to begin at 7 p.m. will be the official album release party for his new album, “Crushed Coins,“ on Cornelius Chapel Records.

Opening for Caudle will be Jake Xerxes Fussell. 

Tickets for the show go on sale at 3 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2017. You can read my review of Caudle’s last album release, “Carolina Ghost,” on my Huffington Post blog.

Stay tuned for an exclusive release of one of his upcoming singles from his latest album.

MerleFest 2018 continues tradition with acoustic kids showcases

From the good folks over at MerleFest:
MerleFest 2018, presented by Window World and slated for April 26 – 29, is pleased to announce the return of the Acoustic Kids Showcases to the 2018 festival.
The Acoustic Kids Showcases allow the next generation of pickers and singers to highlight their talents for music fans at the four-day festival. Musicians under the age of 17 are welcome to participate, and we will accept registration forms until the showcases are full or until one week before the festival, whichever comes first.
These showcases, which played to standing-room-only crowds last year, reflect an elevation and encouragement of young musicians that have been part of the festival from its early days. Hosted by performer and beloved MerleFest veteran Andy May, the showcases provide an opportunity for young musicians through age 16 to perform in a supportive environment on a festival stage.

WILKESBORO, NORTH CAROLINA – MerleFest, presented by Window World and slated for April 26 – 29, is proud to announce new additions to the 2018 lineup including Steep Canyon Rangers and Friends with special guest Steve Martin, Jim Lauderdale, Buddy Miller and the North Mississippi Allstars, Jerry Douglas and Tommy Emmanuel, The Jerry Douglas Band with special guest John Medeski, Si Kahn & Joe Jencks, We Banjo 3, and The Cleverlys. The annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
MerleFest has already announced more than 90 artists for 2018, including Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Rodney Crowell, Rhiannon Giddens, Elephant Revival, The Devil Makes Three, a Midnight Jam hosted by Town Mountain and Jim Lauderdale, and many more. The deadline and last day for purchasing Early Bird Tier 1 tickets is Feb. 18.

The Steel Wheels announce lineup for sixth annual Red Wing Roots Music Festival set for July 13-15, 2018

The Steel Wheels have announced the first bands who will perform at the band’s sixth annual Red Wing Roots Music Festival set for July 13-15, 2018, in Mt. Solon, Virginia.. 

The already stellar lineup will include Steep Canyon Rangers,The Secret Sisters, Dori Freeman, Ladama, Charley Crockett, The Way Down Wanderers, Nicole Atkins and The War and Treaty. As festival hosts, The Steel Wheels will be there all three days. “We look forward to seeing you at our favorite weekend of the year,” the band writes on Facebook.

Cold Mountain Music Festival 2018 lineup features Shovels & Rope, Mandolin Orange, River Whyless and The Steel Wheels, among many others

To know me is to know that the lineup announcement for the second annual 2018 Cold Mountain Music Festival at Lake Logan set for June 8-9 has me pretty excited.

They had me at Shovels & Rope, Mandolin Orange, River Whyless, The Steel Wheels and Jon Stickley Trio, and that’s not all the acts!

The event will raise funds and awareness for Lake Logan and Camp Henry. The centerpiece of the 300-acre property is a mile-long lake surrounded by the Shining Rock Wilderness Area of Pisgah National Forest, according to the website.

Tuck Fest promises a great lineup of free music April 19-22 at USNWC

“Tuck Fest” gets its name from the Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail, a historical landmark located on the property of the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC).

The three-day festival celebrates the outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos and free live music at the USNWC. The festival features a variety of outdoor sport competitions that include trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, among others
