The good folks at the annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival are sponsoring the first show of 2018 on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the historic Rives Theatre in uptown Martinsville, Virginia.
The Trongone Band from Richmond, Virginia, is touring in support of their 2017 debut album, “Keys to the House,” released on Harmonized Records. With a sound that Paste Magazine likens to the “freak-outs of My Morning Jacket with the Muscle Shoals-inspired Leslie speakers and The Band’s narrative storytelling,” The Trongone Band is turning heads and making an impact on the Southern Rock ‘n’ Soul and Americana scenes, according to the band’s website.
Saturday’s show is also Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Member Appreciation Night, featuring two sets. The first set of the night will be a tribute to rock stars lost in 2017, while the second will feature original music.
Members of the Chamber can get free tickets to this show by emailing. Similarly, everyone who has already purchased their 2018 Live at the Rives Season Passes will get into this show free of charge. Otherwise, tickets cost $7 in advance and $10 at the doors.
