If you attended (or missed) FloydFest 14, you won’t want to miss the fourth annual WhoDat Festival, featuring North Carolina musicians. That’s because a number of FloydFest’s On the Rise (OTR) bands are performing on Saturday, Aug. 15, just east of downtown Greensboro.

Acts for WhoDat 2015 include The Midatlantic, an Americana group from Wilmington, N.C., which just won second place in FloydFest’s annual competition. Also scheduled to perform is Greensboro’s Crystal Bright and the Silver Hands, which was an OTR band a couple of years ago.

Other acts on the bill including The Chit Nasty Band, a funk and rock band from the Triangle; The Tan and Sober Gentlemen, an Irish punk-grass from Chapel Hill; the rockin’ girl-group the See Gulls from Raleigh; Vaughn Aed, an experimental folk group from Saxapahaw; and The Tills, a pop-punk group from Asheville, that played at Phuzz Phest in April. The Tills group released a six-song EP on Winston-Salem’s Phuzz Records called “Howlin’” in 2014.

The website describes WhoDat as a celebration of North Carolina artists and makers including poets, songwriters and comedians. It’s held at Doodad Farm, 4701 Land Road, Greensboro. “With open mics, skill shares, kids activities, collaborative art projects, local makers, food trucks, games, and camping on Saturday night, WhoDat 2015 is a wake-you-up, find-your-people, learn-something-fun, dance-like-crazy great day.”

The festival is put on by an all volunteer group. And along the lines of the growing living-room and backyard concert trend, there is no ticket price just a $15-$30 suggested CASH donation per person. Proceeds go 100 percent to the bands, according to organizers.

And there’s a beard contest. Seriously? See you out there.
