I know you want to go to Rooster Walk 7. Who doesn’t? But wouldn’t you like to go for free? Who doesn’t like free?
OK, so it’s true there is no such thing as a free lunch or music festival. But for a mere three days of your time (7-8 hours each day), you could earn a four-day pass to Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival that will allow you the chance to spend Memorial Day weekend (May 21-24, 2015) listening to headliners Yonder Mountain String Band and more than a dozen other heavy hitters, including Lake Street Dive, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Southern Culture on the Skids, Particle, Mountain Heart and Yarn.
Still not convinced or are unsure of what a Rooster Walk is? Watch this promotional video here.
Because this year’s festival is relocating to scenic Pop’s Farm in Axton, Va., there’s a lot of work to be done and many hands make for light work (and don’t forget free music!). If you are interested in volunteering to earn a free ticket, contact Rooster Walk Co-Founder William Baptist at william@roosterwalk.com to schedule your work day. Details follow:
- Work is available for all skills and ability levels, so please let Baptist know if you have any special skills or limitations.
- Tools may be necessary to complete certain tasks; let Baptist know if you are comfortable bringing any tools. Also let him know what tools you are comfortable using (i.e. chainsaws, mowers etc.)
- All work days are subject to cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen issues.
“We will try to give as much advance notice as possible if we have to cancel a work day,” Baptist says. “You will still be responsible for completing your days in order to get your ticket rewards. Please let us know if you are interested in camping on site while you are working your days. And please feel free to work additional days to earn additional tickets. We need as much help as we can get to have our awesome new home ready to go for RW7.”
Remaining scheduled work days are: May 2-3, May 9-10 and May 11-20.
Don’t have time to volunteer beforehand but still want to go? RW7 tickets are available at two Martinsville, Va., coffee shops: Binding Time Cafe and The Daily Grind. Each location has VIP Weekend Passes; 4-Day and 3-Day GA passes; plus individual tickets for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult.
